About me
Koopman Maritiem is a maritime consultancy firm specializing in vessels, where Jelmer Koopman, as a yacht and ship expert, offers his independent and objective expertise to clients interested in the purchase or sale of new and/or used vessels.
Boat purchase and sale inspections
When buying or selling a vessel, a thorough inspection is essential to determine its condition and status. The seller will recommend this, and the buyer has a duty to investigate in order to identify any defects. We carry out an independent and reliable pre-purchase survey, during which we examine the following components, amongst others:
- The hull below the waterline, or the underwater hull, is assessed for the functioning of the propulsion system (propeller shaft and propeller), as well as the rudder and the condition of the keel/hull joint, coating and corrosion (including moisture or wall thickness measurements);
- Hull above the waterline: the condition of the hull plating is also examined and measured;
- Deck, superstructure and cockpit (teak where applicable);
- Rigging (where applicable);
- Hull interior (structural elements);
- Interior (functionality and aesthetic aspects);
- Technical systems;
- Gas system (where applicable);
- Electrical system;
- Equipment;
- Steering system;
- Mechanical propulsion system (engine(s) and drive);
- Sea trial of the engine(s);
- Safety and rescue equipment.
